Time for everyone’s favourite moment and that is to publish song 4 of my 1 song per month album. If you are new here let me say, thanks, welcome, and here is the story so far..

I have been accumulating songs for my next album for nigh on 10 years now. I have more than a few that have been almost ready to publish, but instead of publishing them they have just been existing in the digital world of my music hard drive for all of that time. So with encouragement from people who care for my musical stylings, I have been hatching a plan to do the one song per month release making the tracks available through my band camp page. So far so good; what you have in front of you is the 4th song titled “o brother o sister”. Song one was named O Mother; they were both written & recorded quite some distance apart. In a perfect world, I wouldn’t have released such similarly titled songs so close together however a problem. with my hard drive took the choice of which song to release out of my hands. I am trying to raise the funds to replace my digital recording systems asap so that I can complete this project.
The song…
I was watching the mid morning news one day, when a story came on about an Irish woman who had taken it upon herself to work in some of the most devastating war zones where countless children were barely existing with poverty starvation & violence being the daily realities that they had to deal with. She was dedicated to restoring whatever dignity could be mustered in such horrible circumstances. Stirring stuff.
The story ended & I thought that the news was over; there was however a “breaking story”. There had been a terrorist attack in a middle eastern country where a suicide bomber had detonated their device, killing a large number of people. I was dumbfounded. One story seamlessly followed the other and yet they somehow couldn’t have been more different. Both told stories of horror; one was full of stirring hope, the other recounted a story a story of despair.
I hope that you like the song, It’s one of mine & Bernie’s favourites. It features som beautiful instrumentation from Matty Bourne on the mandolin as well as cameo BV’s & melody from Bernie.
